According to the latest Bollywood News, Bollywood Actor Imran Khan is now trying to prove his bestmarketing skills by promoting 2 of his movies at one time.. By mouthing the word ‘Fugly’ several times in I hate Luv Storys, Bollywood Actor Imran Khan has indirectly promoted the title of Kabir Sadanand’s next film, and what do you know… Kabir is not complainingDirector Kabir Sadanand seems to have comically benefited from the film I hate Luv Storys, which is all set to release today.Apparently, throughout the film, lead actor Imran Khan mouths dialogue that have the word Fugly in them. Fugly happens to be Kabir’s forthcoming film. Kabir had planned an entire marketing strategyaround the film and its title, so that a curious audience would interpret the word themselves.

Our source said, “Kabir and Indepth Productions had planned an entiremarketing strategy to promote the title of the film. They had even tied up with an electronic media channel to run a contest about the title of the film. And now their entire marketing strategy has gone for a toss. However they are not complaining.”When contacted, Kabir Sadanand said, “Yes I have just heard that Imran keeps on mouthing the word Fugly right throughout his film. Shahrukh Khan and Aamir In one single film

Some coffee is brewing between the 3 Idiots megastar Aamir Khan and the renowned director Karan Johar and the hot smoke bellowing out is, certainly, sending warm signals. Tabloids were in for an astonishing delight when Karan Johar was spotted gelling well with the emperor Aamir during the recent music release of his Peepli Live.

But eyebrows are now rising fast almost touching the hairline as Aamir gears up to attend Karan’s party thrown for the celebration of his success I Hate Luv Storys. Of course, the flick stars Aamir’s bhaanja (nephew) Imran but apparently, Aamir shall be the only one outside the cast & crew to be gracing the occasion.

Indiatimes reports, “Karan and Aamir were hardly acquaintances till very recently. And they have now become close friends. After Karan made his appearances at Aamir’s party for Gustavo and attended the music release of Peepli Live, things are clearer by the minute. Now Karan has invited Aamir to this party.”

aKran, reportedly, personally telephoned the Ghajini actor who has cordially accepted the invitation. Their recent closeness is germinating gossips of something fishy lurking beneath the waters. Are they working on a project or do they secretly wish to team up with each other?

Though, Karan casts Shahrukh Khan in all his mega films, it would be a pleasant change if he ropes Aamir in for one. And it would be heavenly, if he can finally do the thinkable……..if he can make Aamir and SRK work together in one single film………

Ajay Devgn: Budgets fail, not the films

Each of the top guns from the past and present– whether it is Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan or Saif Ali Khan  – has at least one solo blockbuster to his credit. These are the kind of films that have done phenomenal business across the country and brought moolah in the access of 50 crores. In fact even relative newcomers like Ranbir Kapoor (AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI) and Imran Khan (JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA) have smashed records as far as a 50 crores runner is concerned. However, the only actor who still hasn’t given a single solo blockbuster which has netted over 50 crores is Ajay Devgn.

One wonders if it is a part of Ajay’s strategy where he has kept things in check by making films in reasonable budget and ensuring guaranteed returns instead of going ahead with those 40-50-60 crore ventures.

Abhishek pairs up with Katrina

Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif would soon be seen together on the silver screen, after a hiatus of about five years. They will be seen as a couple, much in love with each other in as many as three forthcoming films.They would be seen romancing together in the sequel Dostana 2 right after Katrina returns in the initial week of August so as to shoot for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif will shoot a song together in Mumbai, which will be followed by a long stint in London. Earlier, the two actors have only done one movie together, Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar.Katrina, however, reveals that she hardly knows Abhishek, but whatever little she knows, she has liked and is excited to do projects with him.

Vidya Balan asks more money

Vidya Balan is out of Inder Kumar’s next Dhamaal 2 . The buzz in the trade is that Vidya was neither too happy with the money she was being offered for her role, nor with the role per se. A source says, “Vidya asked for a price which she deserves after she catapulted to the top bracket of actors, post the success of Paa and Ishqiya . She asked for Rs 1.5 crore (approximately). Like any other actor would in her place, she too has hiked up her market price.”

According to the filmindustry standards, the market prices of Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are believed to be Rs 1.5 crore (approximately) and that of Priyanka Chopra’s around Rs 1 crore. Hence, given Vidya’s career graph in Bollywood, it is surprising that neither Inder Kumar nor Ashok Thakeria, the producer of the film, objected to Vidya’s exit from the film. “Inder and Ashok failed to understand the need of the hour. Despite discussions, the makers of the film and the actress could not meet at a common consensus,” adds the source.

Meanwhile, Vidya’s friend insists the actress quit the project for qualitative reasons. She stands up for Vidya and says, “Yes, the news is true. Vidya is definitely not doing Dhamaal 2. But that’s simply because she didn’t find any meat in the portrayal of her character. She would have loved to attempt comedy with this film but it’s okay. There is always a next time.”

Interestingly, Vidya has locked horns with her Dhamaal 2 co-star Kangna Ranaut in another film Bullet Train, which is to be directed by Priyadarshan. Bullet Train, which stars Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn, is largely going to be shot on a train from London to Glasgow.

Producer of Bullet Train, Ratan Jain has clearly worked out the economics of his film much in advance. He has no qualms in giving the lead role to the actress who is willing to settle for the price he has to offer. He confirms, “Between Vidya and Kangna, whoever agrees to do the role at a lesser price, will get to play the part in my film. The availability of dates will of course be another important factor.”

Deepika Padukone’s love for body art touches new heights

Deepika Padukone, it seems, loves to get inked. The actress, who is yet to get rid of the famous ‘RK’ tattoo on her back, has now got an anklet tattoo inscribed on her left ankle.

And even though her latest inking might seem as her attempt to divert her attention from the famous RK pinning on her neck, sources suggest it is Dips love for tattoos that make her bear the pain involved in the process.

According to reports, Dips got her recent inking while she was on a vacation in London. Talking about Dips tattoo a source said, “While there, she suddenly decided to get a tattoo done. She was very excited about the tattoo and sat through the process easily. Since she has got one done before this, she knew how to handle the pain”.

Confirming the news about her new tattoo, Dips said, “I am not revealing when and where I got it done. But yes, it is a new tattoo. Obviously, you have not seen this before. This is the most painful place to get a tattoo done. And I love it.”

Salman will now fund for education of underprivileged girls

Salman visited Sri Lanka on two occasions. One for an awards ceremony and the second visit was for shooting of his forthcoming movie ‘Ready’ with Asin as the female lead. He was too overwhelmed by the love and adulation showered upon him by the locals and so he has taken up the cause very sincerely.

Previously, Salman had arranged for doctors to do cataract operations for the financially poor in the war-torn areas like Jaffna in Sri Lanka. And now, the actor plans to fund the education to a selected few right up to the college. His charity will set up a team to search for the talents who need this support.

What’s this happening?? Is she the new favorite of Salman? At present, Asin and salman working for ready movie, and rumors are that Sallu himself suggested her name to the director Anees Bazmee who was interested in signing Deepika Padukone.

Asin was previously seen with Salman in the film London Dreams, which was a flop at the box office.

Movie Review: Karthik Calling Karthik

The first rule of Fight Club is – you do not make an outdated movie. Wait, what? Lets back up a bit.While walking into the screening of ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ my mobile phone rang, and a sneering, grating voice spoke: ‘This is Farhan speaking. I do know howto make an effective psychological thriller. I know I must keep viewers guessing, provide several solid jolts, and finally lead the awesome build up to a perfectly acceptable ending. Heck I could even add a few more twists to satisfy the die hardest of my fans. But not this time. Karthik forced me to make a bad film. He wants to kill my acting career. He said its for the greater good. So this time I will rob you in broad daylight. This time I annoy you with unintentional comedy. You Are Finished! FINISHED!’

At exactly five in the morning, for reasons I can only share with Vijay Lalwani I woke up and began writing this review. Farhan Akhtar produced and stars in this generally lunatic, occasionally pathetic and more often comically inept endeavor. ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ isn’t a film, it’s a catalog of cliched dialogue. Its a boring, formulaic mix of psycho babble and Wikipedia recitation. The only element of suspense is whether the movie will show the trailer of ‘Housefull’ before the closing credits roll.

The biggest disappointment is that ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ does open with its mind nicely intact, but suffers a major crisis about 40 minutes in, then bad turns to worse. Although the first part of ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ overflows with delicious suspense and atmosphere, the film’s plot soon becomes its helpless protagonist. What we get is a profoundly stupid affair, that populates its hackneyed and obsolete storyline with cardboard characters and performers who value cash above credibility. Nothing is as it seems, because nothing matters in the least.

The dark, rainswept scene between Farhan and Deepika near the Bandra Worli sea link after the interval assures you that the storyline has indeed turned into a lame-brained nut job in desperate search of a different plot twist. The dense rain that falls is no natural rain, it’s runoff from world cinema’s bilge tank of recycled ideas. The characters are as poorly developed as the concept. A doctor (Shefali Shah) arrives at Karthik’s home to figure out the mystery behind the call, but runs away. Then Shonali (Deepika) arrives at Karthik’s home for the same, only to run away. The outlandishness of it all makes you want to make a dash for it as well. And because you can’t bear to think that Farhan would betray us, you keep trying to convince yourself that ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ is trying to be more than what it seems.

Performances veer from outstanding to wooden. Its heartbreaking to see the incredibly versatile Farhan in this film – his gait, his range and finer nuances are commendable. Deepika looks hot – her acting’s not. Her dialogue delivery is deadpan, while her expressions are nonexistent. Vijay Lalwani’s direction suffers due to his own unimaginative script. The cinematography by Sanu Varghese is top notch, and SEL’s excellent music goes well with Midival Punditz & Karsh Kale’s snappy background score. However, the film’s merits are crushed by the pressure of the story’s big revelation (or the lack of it) which makes you feel totally cheated.

Final verdict? When some people talk about how much they hated 2005’s Tamil film ‘Anniyan’ for being unreasonably unviable, I think they must mean this film.

Hum Tum Aur Confusion

Arshad Warsi (Armaan) is a high flying photographer whose personal life is in the doldrums. Due to his penchant for the bottle he’s about to mess up both his personal and professional life. His girlfriend Gehna (Dia Mirza) vacillates between loving him intensely or wanting to dump him and move on in life. Because his alcoholism isn’t the real problem! Arshad is seeing a psychiatrist as he hears voices all the time especially at home when he’s alone. So he drinks himself silly, sleeps at railway stations only to run away from the sound of these voices.But nothing seems to work. Till one day Arshad is convinced that he can actually communicate with souls who haven’t become angels. Souls who are spiralling the earth because they have some unfinished business to be taken care of! His doctor is convinced it’s schizophrenia. Dia is torn between wanting to believe the doctor or trusting her instincts….

The first half of the film retains a light peppy mood despite the seriousness of the situation. Most of the outdoors have been shot in London  and the film has an interesting look and feel to it. Zippy cars, great cafes, a fantastic duplex apartment all succeed in imparting the film with a happy look.

Arshad has his capable assistant Sandhya Mridul (Mini) to take care of him while he is at work. Sandhya Mridul may not have much work but she does take good care of her body. She brings the same energy onto the screen that she has in her earlier films Page 3 andHoneymoon Travels Private Limited.

Dia is the surprise package of the film. She has shed oodles of weight and might just be successful in making a transition from being a supporting actress to becoming a leading lady. Arshad thankfully has distanced himself from his ‘circuit’ personality. His performance especially in the first half is restrained rather than overplayed.

Boman Irani tries very hard, but his character doesn’t have any dialogues or scenes which make an impact. Such a pity because in the right role this versatile actor has the audience eating out of his hand!

Ashwin Mushran the ruthless son from Lage Raho Munnabhai (who dumps his father into an old age home) is back and he plays a similar character all over gain.

The plot contradicts itself. On one hand ghosts are people who know instinctively what is happening on earth, and on the other handArshad is asked to locate people who disappeared 30 years ago.

It’s in the second half that the director gets the genre totally confused. The film suddenly turns into a tearjerker. Agreed Arshad only wishes to help people who are in a genuine crisis. But did it have to be so melodramatic?

The film is short but the climax could have been far shorter. It seems stretched and contrived and Arshad hams it up especially towards the end.

Apart from being the producer, Arshad is also one of the co-writers ofthe film. The premise of the film has its heart in the right place. But the script doesn’t evolve from one scene to the other. It resembles a car that lurches forward again and again moving a few feet ahead before it comes to a slow and agonizing halt.

The music is by Shankar Ehsaan Loy  and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Yet not a single line remains with you as you leave the auditorium.
